In the 1920s, the Mari people were given the opportunity to freely develop their literary language. In just over a decade, a wealth of terminology was created for various disciplines and utilized in Mari textbooks. However, the political situation changed in the late 1930s, and the self-developed development of the Mari language was interrupted. Mari terms were replaced with their Russian equivalents. This work is the first extensive and detailed study of the results of the vocabulary development of the Mari languages in the 1920s and 1930s. The terminology of the sciences studying living nature has been described in depth in the book since the concepts of the disciplines. In addition, the morphological and semantic means by which new words were formed have been mapped. The work contains a popular introduction to the history of Marie and their literary languages. This makes the book suitable not only for linguists but also for anyone interested in the Mari language.
